Mestre Preguica and I

My injury

So it's a little over 2 months since I dislocated my shoulder, and partially tore something too. It's been tough, and recovery is really slow, but training again feels really good. It's not easy to hold back since I'm still training with only 1 arm and am limited to certain movements, but having Mestre Preguica pushing me is keeping my energy up.

I wonder how long it will take, what i'll never be able to do again, how my game will change and evolve due to this. Only time will tell.

I've realized now more than ever how much there really is to capoeira, and how much I still don't know. Every day I learn something new, even when it's not new.

Me doing the tinsica

Open House December 12th, 2009

Omulu....my new group

Ok so I haven't written in a while. So many things to catch up on....let's see...January 31st will be 1 year to the day that I've been training with Instructora Cotonete (Omulu Guanabara). This year has been so enlightening and refreshing. A new style of capoeira I've had to catch up on, floreios I'm still trying to learn, new music, new songs, new rythms. I am content and satisfied with the choice I made. Class is so tough sometimes I think I won't make it through, but I do, and always go back. Sometimes I wonder how others don't love capoeira. I always feel like if they try it, they'll love it, how could they not? But lots of people like to watch it, but not train it. I guess if you could get good fast without all that training and hard work right? hahahaha.

I've been struggling with a fractured toe the last week and am missing class big time.
